At the Dublin Racing Festival 2024, Leopardstown Racecourse achieved its highest ever food and drink sales, with Skippio's fast-track ordering running alongside its bars.
The challenge
The Dublin Racing Festival is one of the busiest weekends in the Irish racing calendar. Between races, bar queues can mean racegoers miss the action, and some give up on ordering altogether.
What we did
Racegoers ordered food and drink on their phones and collected from a dedicated Skippio collection point, skipping the main bar queue. Faster turnaround and fewer people abandoning the queue meant more orders overall.
More F&B sales than the previous year's festival |
Less waiting than the industry average |
“Skippio is a game-changer for our race day operations and customer experience, especially during our major festivals. The app's efficiency and ease of use has significantly reduced bar queues, allowing our guests to spend more time enjoying the races and socialising.”
What racegoers said
Fans noticed the difference too. One racegoer, travelling over for the festival for the second time, called the Skippio app "an absolute game changer" and said it needs to be rolled out at other meetings.
What Leopardstown gained
- More revenue. Faster queues and fewer people leaving them drove the festival's highest ever food and drink sales.
- Better fan experience. Racegoers spent more time enjoying the racing and less time waiting.
- New insights. Data on customer behaviour and spending that wasn't possible to track before. The average Skippio customer was 32.8 years old.
- Rewards and promotions. Exclusive offers from food and drink partners.
